New Treasury warrants, January 23, 1788-January 15, 1917.

Warrants from the register of the Land Office issued after notification by the auditor that the set fee had been paid into the treasury. They authorized any county surveyor to survey for the individual named the number of acres specified. A warrant usually was filed with the final survey to which it applied. It is possible either that the warrants in this series were returned later than the surveys and never interfiled or that they were returned to be exchanged because of an error.
